The center of the jewelry composition in this product is the plot depicted at the bottom of the kovsh. Here is a young girl who is passionate about traditional needlework - spinning. Russian folk tales and Russian art use this image quite often.
The base of the kovsh is decorated with a rich floral pattern. The bow of the product is decorated with an image of the tree of life, meaning "the beginning of all beginnings". It is a large flower with a straight stem, with shamrocks, berries and spreading branches, on which elegant birds of paradise with elongated lush tails sit.
The handle of the kovsh smoothly passes from the body, has a flat figured silhouette. It is also decorated with the image of birds on the tree of life.
It is worth noting that such a decorative plot was traditionally used in paintings decorating Russian spinning wheels. The kovsh is topped with a small decorative element - a crown, emphasizing the Russian motifs in the product.
The kovsh seems fabulous due to its rich color scheme. Despite the variety of colors: purple, blue, red, yellow, green, white and their various shades, the kovsh is harmonious and pleasing to the eye.
Gilding gives a modern sound to the product, while eventually becoming covered with patina, it will take on a noble antique shade, revealing the color play of stained-glass enamel.
The elegance of the form, the brilliance of gilding, the color saturation of enamel and the richness of the decor turn a utilitarian thing into a work of art for its intended purpose.
The base of the product is created from 925 silver filigree. The soldered openwork ornament is a solid frame of the product. Stained-glass enamel is colorfully embedded in the created silver pattern. Each enamel color has its own melting point - this is how the product undergoes multiple firing in muffle furnaces at temperatures of 720-760 degrees.
Enamel is a powder with an admixture of one or another metal oxide, which gives the enamel a certain color. After firing, such an alloy turns into a solid shiny mass with stable, bright colors.
Despite the apparent fragility, enamel works that have undergone high-temperature firing in a muffle furnace have retained a rich palette and brightness of colors for centuries. In color, shone, iridescence, stained-glass enamel has similarities with precious stones and, moreover, acts as a jewel on a par with them. And the undoubted advantage of art works with stained-glass enamels is their functionality.
Stained-glass enamel is one of the most difficult and time–consuming enameling techniques. It is rightfully considered the top of enamel art.
